ASK Planning comprises of Mark Stanojevic Director, Effie Tangalakis Associate Director, James Stuart-Menteth Senior Associate, Cemil Ali Senior Associate and Stephanie Laurin Business & Interiors.
Mark launched the business ASK in a freelance capacity in 2012. Since 2014, Mark has run a broad range of projects in statutory and strategic planning across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Mark brings 20 years of Local Government experience having previously been Manager Statutory Planning at Glen Eira City Council dealing with 1200 applications and 150+ appeals to VCAT annually for 6 years. He held previous senior roles at Glen Eira City Council and Hobson’s Bay City Council coordinating VCAT appeal services, overseeing major projects and managing staff. He was also integral to award winning fast track planning processes and streamlined VCAT submissions recognized by the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA).
Effie joined the ASK team in 2018 after completing almost 20 years in Local Government. Having commenced her planning career at Manningham City Council, Effie then spent 17 years at Glen Eira City Council in numerous roles including as Senior Planner and Coordinator Statutory Planning. She regularly chaired Council's Delegated Planning Forum (formerly DPC), acted as 'gatekeeper' for Council reporting and managed the Council's VCAT function. Having this diverse experience combined with her business acumen beyond town planning, she brings invaluable experience and knowledge with a highly efficient and rapid service response to the ASK team.
She holds a Bachelor of Urban Planning and is a VPELA member.
James joined ASK in September 2015 after completing his studies in planning and having previously completed a statutory planning placement at a Melbourne based consulting firm.
James brings excellent analytical and writing skills to the team, working on a broad range of projects in hospitality, residential and mixed-use sectors and assisting with VCAT appeals. Being Brighton based, he is very familiar with the local turf and since beginning with ASK has managed a number of multi-unit residential projects in southeast metropolitan Councils. He also has an important role dealing with clients daily and attending to the timely submission of documentation on behalf of clients.
Stephanie looks after everything NOT Town Planning related. She is affectionately known as Head Office and has managed business affairs since ASK was launched. Her other hat in the business is Interior Design. You can see her great work at www.askinteriordesign.com or drop in for a chat!
Elvis is ASK’s mascot and attracts more attention than all of us put together. He regularly greets our clients on the office doorstep and interacts with our wonderful local community passing by.
